Our Step To Step Process
Step 1: Disassembly
Remove Cabinet Doors and Drawers:
- Use a screwdriver or drill to carefully remove all cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware (hinges, knobs, and handles).
- Label each door and drawer with tape and a marker to ensure easy reassembly. Place the corresponding hardware in labeled bags.
Step 2: Cleaning
Clean Surfaces:
- Clean all doors, drawers, and frames with a soft cloth or sponge and a mild detergent or degreaser to remove any grease, dirt, and grime.
- Rinse with water and dry thoroughly.
Step 3: Sanding (First Pass)
Initial Sanding:
- Use medium-grit sandpaper to sand the surfaces of the doors and drawers. This helps to remove the old finish and rough up the surface for better primer adhesion.
- Wipe away sanding dust with a damp cloth and let dry.
Step 4: Priming
Apply Primer:
- Apply a coat of primer to all sanded surfaces. Use a paint sprayer for a smooth and even application.
- Allow the primer to dry according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Step 5: Sanding (Second Pass)
Fine Sanding:
- Once the primer is dry, sand the surfaces again with fine-grit sandpaper to smooth out any imperfections and prepare for the final coat of paint.
- Wipe away any sanding dust with a damp cloth and let dry.
Step 6: Painting
Spray Paint with Oil-Based Lacquer:
- Use a paint sprayer to apply a coat of oil-based lacquer paint to all primed surfaces. Apply thin, even coats to avoid drips and achieve a smooth finish.
- Allow each coat to dry completely before applying additional coats as needed for full coverage.
Step 7: On-Site Painting
On-Site Painting:
- While the doors and drawers are being painted, send in a professional painter to paint the cabinet frames on-site.
Step 8: Reassembly
Reassemble Cabinet Doors and Drawers:
- Once all painted surfaces are completely dry, reattach the hardware to the doors and drawers.
- Rehang the doors and slide the drawers back into place according to the labels.
